  • Miranda Kerr offers to sign a petition to save red-faced Macquarie banker David Kiely’s job; Was he pranked?; Macquarie investigating Kiely’s emails

    February 4th, 2010 | 12:22 PM | by L. Winthorpe III |

Supermodel Miranda Kerr, the sexy subject of Macquarie banker David Kiely’s now infamous broadcast live on air web surfing incident, has come out in support of her besieged fan.  According to the Herald Sun:
Kerr has offered to sign a petition to help red-faced broker David Kiely save his job.
“I am told there is a petition to save his job and of course I would sign it,” said Kerr, who is in Australia.
Was Kiely the object of a prank?  According to the BBC:
There are reports that Mr Kiely was deliberately sent an email containing the images and opened it unwittingly, before being told to look round, with the broadcast still in progress.
Messages of support for the banker’s plight have been posted on internet campaign sites.

Macquarie is examining Kiely’s email to find out the source of the Miranda Kerr pictures.  Kiely, a 6 year veteran of the firm, has been home for two days since the incident occurred.  According to the Australian:

MACQUARIE is today forensically examining the emails of red-faced trader David Kiely as part of its internal investigation into the embarrassing gaffe in which he was spotted ogling near-nude pictures of Miranda Kerr on live television.
Macquarie sources have told City Beat that Kiely remains at his Sydney home for the second consecutive day after being marched out of the trading room on Tuesday afternoon.
However, as part of its investigation, Macquarie is today sifting through Kiely’s email system to find the source of the contentious email which contained three racy pics of the Australian supermodel.
It is understood the bank has carried out a series of meetings between Kiely’s bosses and Macquarie’s HR division.
